Michigan Laborers Statement Mourning Two Union Members’ Deaths

Lansing, Mich – The Michigan Laborers District Council mourns the loss of two Laborers Union members, Nicholas Andres Sada and Davyon Desmond Aereailes Rose, who were struck and killed by a motorist early Saturday morning in Ypsilanti Township.

Sada was a 23-year-old with Laborers Local 1191 from Lansing and Rose was a 23-year-old with Laborers Local 355 also from Lansing. The stage-one apprentices were working on Eastbound I-94 near Harris Rd in Ypsilanti Township. Investigation of the cause of the crash is suspected to be alcohol related.

“At the start of every construction season we plead with the public, please slow down and drive safe in construction zones. In this case, two hard-working young men did not come home on Saturday night because of a motorist who decided to drink and get behind the wheel,” said Geno Alessandrini, Business Manager of the Michigan Laborers District Council.

“We are deeply saddened by the news that we’ve lost two of our own, Brother Sada and Brother Rose. Our Laborers family is united in our condolences to their families and ready to assist in any way we can,” said Alessandrini.

The Michigan Laborers District Council serves proud members of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA). The District Council represents seven Local Unions across the State of Michigan with over 14,000 active and retired members. For more information please visit: mi-laborers.org.
