\nThe 2024 Presidential Election is the most important election of our lifetimes, and it’s important that LIUNA members support candidates that support their interests.<\/p>\n\n\t\t\t\t\n
She\u00a0advocated for strong wages and unveiled the final Davis Bacon rule<\/a>\u00a0to modernize and strengthen prevailing wages on federal infrastructure investment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t She cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate for\u00a0the Inflation Reduction Act<\/a>,\u00a0paving the way for green energy projects built by union members.<\/p>\n Harris vigorously\u00a0advocated for workers’ freedom to form or join a union\u00a0<\/strong>and strongly supported the PRO Act in the Senate to reform broken labor laws.\u00a0<\/p>\n Harris introduced the\u00a0Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights<\/a>\u00a0to guarantee domestic workers <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Harris introduced the\u00a0Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights<\/a>\u00a0to guarantee domestic workers protections against harassment and discrimination, meal breaks, a guaranteed minimum wage, and overtime pay.<\/p>\n Harris\u00a0stood with striking workers<\/a>\u00a0y\u00a0walked the picket line<\/a>\u00a0in 2019 with the UAW at the GM facility near Reno, Nevada.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t Headed the Administration’s efforts to increase access to affordable child care<\/a>\u00a0and expand the\u00a0child tax credit.<\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t As Attorney General of California, Harris stood up to anti-union forces to\u00a0protect pensions<\/a>.<\/p>\n Also, as Attorney General, she cracked down on corporate greed, Tackled Wage Theft<\/a>, and took on the\u00a0Big Banks<\/a>\u00a0after the 2008 financial crisis to deliver\u00a0relief for struggling homeowners<\/strong><\/p>\n He enacted\u00a0tough wage theft rules<\/a>\u00a0to protect workers’ paychecks.<\/p>\n The governor led the fight for guaranteed\u00a0paid family medical leave and paid sick days<\/a>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Walz\u00a0lowered the cost of insulin to $35 per month<\/a>\u00a0for many Minnesotans.\u00a0<\/p>\n In Congress, he forged compromise to\u00a0help veterans, including passage of landmark suicide prevention<\/a>\u00a0legislation.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t He\u00a0advocated for the collective bargaining powe<\/a>r<\/a>\u00a0of teachers’ unions, including allowing bargaining over educator-to-student classroom ratios.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t Walz created a statewide council to\u00a0i<\/a>mprove conditions for nursing home workers<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n Voters can register any day up to and including November 5, 2024, online and in person at their local election office.
